About your blog title...What about keeping the colour, but editing the HTML so that the font is oh, 250% or 300% or whatever? I increased the font size on mine, to make it easier to read. You could also try a different font, something more substantial (Arial Bold is the only one that comes to mind, but of course there are so many from which to choose.)
Or create your own banner image. I did that for my "Fur Family" blog, but that was just simple. Even so, if you took your image, then added a layer of text, you could customize it. (I use an old version of Photoshop Elements for my graphics and photo-editing.)
